Always Do
- Turn off power at the switchboard before investigating any electrical issue.
- Test smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries every 12 months.
- Use only licensed electricians for any fixed wiring work — it's the law in NSW.
- Install safety switches (RCDs) on all circuits, not just power points.
- Keep water away from power outlets, leads and appliances.
- Replace damaged cords, plugs and double-adaptors immediately.
Never Do
- Never DIY electrical work — unlicensed work is illegal and voids insurance.
- Don't overload power boards or 'piggy-back' double adaptors.
- Don't ignore tripping circuit breakers — they're warning you of a fault.
- Don't touch a person in contact with live electricity — switch off first.
- Don't run leads under rugs or through doorways where they can be damaged.
- Never use electrical appliances with wet hands or in wet areas.
Emergency situations — what to do

Switch off the main breaker immediately and call us — do not attempt to use the outlet.
